Petro Gronsky. The Two

The theme of the city is prominent in his works. Observing the nature of its  changes and exploring the city’s structure, rhythm and space, the artist seeks to understand humankind’s place in it, and probes into how the surrounding space and forms shape the environment.

Juxtaposing the mathematical exactitude of geometric forms with an individual human body with its unique silhouette or trying to bring together these essentially different shapes, Gronsky explores the nature of connections between humans and the spaces they exist in. The Two is a meditation on this connection.

The sculpture depicts figures placed on the intersection of basic geometric forms. Taken together, they create an elaborate and dynamic composition not dissimilar to construction toys. Taking its place, each piece becomes an inalienable part of the whole.
